Wall of Witnesses Dedication

Hometown Perry, Iowa invites the public to a dedication of new images on the Wall of Witnesses in Soumas Court at 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 20.  Soumas Court is east of the Hotel Pattee and the Ray B. Smith Museum Store on Willis Avenue.

The Wall of Witnesses displays the faces of well-known men and women from Perry and the surrounding area, including Flora Bailey, Cornelia Bulkley, Earl Green, V.T. “Snick” Hamlin, Betty Mae Harris, Horace Lewis, Hazel Purviance, John Turner, Roy Whyte and Ned Willis. The identities of the new witnesses will not be revealed until the dedication.

The Wall of Witnesses may eventually include one hundred plaques designed by different artists. The community is invited to nominate candidates for the wall. Nomination forms are available at the Ray B. Smith Museum Store as well as at HPI offices in the Security Bank Building. HPI seeks nominees with interesting life histories who have made an impact on the community.
