The Bobs are a Grammy-nominated contemporary a cappella
quartet known for their incredible live show, witty, tuneful, original material
and outrageous covers of classic songs. The Bobs - Richard Bob Greene, Matthew
Bob Stull, Amy Bob Engelhardt and Dan Bob Schmacher - are four dynamic
personalities who present a show that is part theatre, part comedy, part
performance art, but most of all an unique evening of music. The Bobs are a
“band without instruments” using just their voices and body percussion to fill
the theatre with an orchestra of harmonious sound, accompanying themselves on
songs that range from soulful to satire, from amazing to moving, from familiar
to unimaginable.
The Bob’s appearance is part of the Spot Project, started
in November 2003 when the Wallace Foundation awarded The University of Iowa
Hancher Auditorium a four-year, $800,000 “Leadership and Excellence in Arts
Participation” (LEAP) grant. The purpose was to enhance arts participation in
Iowa communities through
the use of technology and direct interaction with performing artists. Hancher
is collaborating with Hometown Perry, Iowa (HPI) and the Perry Public Library
to bring Spot entertainers to Perry.
