Cultural District Ceremony

The Department of Cultural Affairs will hold an unveiling ceremony for the Perry Cultural District at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 21st. The ceremony will take place at the Carnegie Library Museum at 1102 Willis Ave. in Perry, Iowa. The Perry Cultural District Committee invites the community to participate in the celebration.
A Cultural District is a well-recognized, labeled, mixed-use, compact area of a city in which a high concentration of cultural facilities serves as the anchor. They are established to encourage city and county governments to partner with a local community nonprofit or for profit organization, businesses, and individuals to enhance the quality of life for citizens of this state.
Mayor Viivi Shirley will introduce special guests Governor Chet Culver, First Lady Cultural Districts also enrich local economies through developing and sustaining cultural facilities in a synergetic fashion. | |

The purpose of the Perry Cultural District is to promote cultural activity, encourage historic preservation, enhance community pride, increase visibility, attract tourists, and support economic growth in Perry, Iowa.
