Hometown Perry , Iowa presents a Community Open House at the Center for Town/Craft on Wednesday, April 25, at 4:00 p.m.  The program will begin with presentations in the Court Room of the Carnegie Library Museum , 1123 Willis Avenue, Perry .

The Center for Town/Craft, located in the former First National Bank Building at the corner of Second Street and Willis Avenue , is a collaboration between Hometown Perry, Iowa State University ’s College of Design , and Iowa State University Extension.  Currently under renovation and opening in June, the Center will examine, create and diffuse sustainable futures for the Midwestern small town.  Program plans include conferences on small-town sustainability, design forums, and community history seminars to help towns build a future based on their past.

Several key participants in the project – Mark Engelbrecht, Dean of the ISU College of Design; Tim Borich, Associate Dean of the College of Design; and Alan Vandehaar of Iowa State University Extension – will open the event with remarks about the collaboration.  ISU College of Design students will also give a presentation showcasing their plans for the Center.
